General Education Course Certification Committee

Committee Chair
Dr. Ricardo Jaquez
Dr. Ricardo Jaquez

The purpose of the General Education Course Certification Committee (GECCC) is to review general education course proposals and certify whether the courses meet the purposes of general education as specified in the approved Faculty Senate legislation. Recertification of courses will be required every four years, following an initial probationary period of one year. During the first year, the standing committee will meet with the faculty member in charge of each general education course to review the content and hear the faculty member's assessment of the effectiveness of the course in meeting the desired ends of the course.

Members are nominated by the deans and appointed by the provost. Members serve three-year staggered terms and may be reappointed once. Each member has an alternate from their department who they arrange with for meetings when absent themselves.
