| Geography is an amazing subject which can lead to a lucrative career. As a Geographer, you study different cultures, travel, learn how to map maps (cartography), apply computer skills, solve problems, and make a positive contribution to the world. If you like the outdoors, travel, maps, and computers you are on your way to becoming a Geographer! Geography is an exciting and rewarding major with incredible career opportunities. Furthermore, our Department of Geography emphasizes the interaction of human activities with the environment. The undergraduate Geography program prepares students for professional positions in government or the private sector. The undergraduate Geography program also prepares students for the challenges of graduate study . |

Recent Awards/Achievements
The Geography Department received "The Most Distinguished Department Teaching Academy Award for 2006-2007" from the Teaching Academy. This award is given for the most participation in the Teaching Academy's events as a department. The Geography department averaged 25 hours of participation per person this year. Congratuations to Dr. Campbell and Dr. DeMers on behalf of the Geography Department.
Congratulations to Bonnie Tufts and Ariel Simpson! They were the recipients of the 2007 Czerniak Scholarship Award. Each student received $400.00 to use towards their tuition.
Construction has begun on renovating the Geography Teaching labs! All labs will be updated with state of the art equipment and software.
Completion should be done by Fall 2007 semester.
