Dr. George Barton

 

Dr. Barton is currently serving as the Associate Director of Placement and Career Services where he came from Housing as the Associate Director of Housing in 1978. He holds a Doctor of Education in Education Adminisration from New Meixco State University and wrote his dissertation on "Freshman Retention." He also holds a Master of Education in Counselor Education in Student Personnel Services from Penn State and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts and Socal Welfare from Kutztown (Cootztown) Pennsylvania. Dr. Barton has graced the NMSU capus for 33+ years. Before landing in Las Cruces, Dr. Barton (George) worked as an Area Coordinator at University of Tennesse Knoxville and university of Connecticut.

He also is an avid fitness buff and can be found working out in the AC during his lunch hour and riding his mountain bike on A mountain during the weekends. Along with his wife, Megan, he is also the proud father of Hilary and Valerie Barton who have both started their professional careers in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Barton is a mentor and friend to students, faculty and staff at NMSU. Thank you Dr. Barton for your service to NMSU from the students of NMSU. (bow)
