After
graduating from the University of California at Berkeley, Nancy
joined the Peace Corps and served two years as a volunteer in Peru
and worked two more years in Puerto Pico training new volunteers. In
the ensuing years she has been a social worker in New York City,
Philadelphis and Albuquerque. She was involved in the design of an
Adult Basic Education Program for rural New Mexico through the
University of New Mexico, served as the director of the Retired and
Senior Volunteer Program in Syracuse, NY and worked as the Client
Services Coordinator for an agency serving those affected with HIV
and AIDS. At New Mexico State University, she worked for the Social
Work Department as the Coordinator for ththe Teaching Learning
Center, was an academic advisor for the College of Business
Administration and Economics for 10 years, and for the last 5 years
has been the Tutor Coordinator for Student Support Services.
This
was the introduction speech given on Ms. Galves when she was
inducted
as
an Honorary Member on March 10th, 2001.
