International Relations

International Relations deals with some of the most pressing problems of our times. If you care about war and peace, human rights, democracy, nationalism and ethnic cleansing, global markets and development, famine and poverty, pollution and the environment, you will find international relations relevant and exciting. The International Relations sub-field will help you better understand the complexities of a rapidly changing world by adding a global dimension to your education.

A specialization in the sub-field of International Relations will enhance a wide variety of career options. Whether your ambitions direct you toward private business, public service, the non-profit sector, teaching, or the media, international and global issues will play a major role. Corporate employers, for instance, seek people who have the necessary skills to succeed in an increasingly global economy. Knowledge of how the global system works, offers future public servants a huge comparative advantage over colleagues without a similar understanding. In our age of global information and communication, journalists and other media professionals cannot succeed without extensive international literacy. And for students who wish to pursue an educational career, international relations will provide an excellent background for teaching at any educational institution.

For further information on the International Relations sub-field, please contact: Dr. Yosef Lapid :505-646-1645 E-mail: ylapid@nmsu.edu
