Government Graduate Student Organization
The Government Graduate Student Organization (GGSO) was organized to support the Government Department faculty and government graduate students. We are a great group of graduate students that meet bi-monthly with the support of a devoted faculty member as an adviser. Last semester we held several social events, a new-student orientation, and also helped to find funding for several students traveling to present at conferences. This semester we will host more new-student orientations and social events for government faculty, staff, and government graduate students. The relationships built between participants of the organization are memorable and irreplaceable.
Our current GGSO officers are:
President: Aliese McArthur (ammcarth@nmsu.edu)
Vice President: Catie Ford (catiem@nmsu.edu)
Treasurer: Yesenia Godoy (norma_g@nmsu.edu)
Secretary: Jacob Deaven (jdeaven@nmsu.edu)
The Graduate School Council provides up some student support for participation in academic conferences: 50% of expenses, capped at $500. Check out the GSC website at: http://web.nmsu.edu/~wwwgsc/index.html

Mariposa Award
Every Spring, GGSO gives the Mariposa Award to an outstanding professor. This year, the Government Graduate Student Organization would like to thank Dr. Viola Fuentes for her tireless investment into the lives and studies of the graduate students she teaches in the MPA program.
