The Department of Government seeks applicants whose interests and experience demonstrate abilities appropriate for advanced work in political science. When making admissions decisions, the M.A. Program Committee considers each applicant individually. Prospective graduate students are expected to have at least a 3.0 undergraduate grade point average; the Graduate Record Examination is not required except for those applicants whose undergraduate GPAs fall below 3.0.
In addition, applicants must submit directly to the Department of Government a writing sample and three letters of recommendation from persons familiar with the applicant's academic work. As a condition of admissions, candidates with inadequate preparation may be required to take appropriate undergraduate course work.
Send a completed Graduate School application form and academic transcripts to:
Dean of the Graduate School,
Box 30001, Department 3G,
New Mexico State University,
Las Cruces, N.M. 88003-0001
Applications may be submitted electronically. For instructions, see www.nmsu.edu/~gradcolg/forms-index.html .
