PHI ALPHA THETA
Rho-Zeta Chapter

At New Mexico State University, Phi Alpha Theta serves a dual purpose as the local chapter of the national honor society and as the History Graduate Student Organization (GSO).
Involvement with the History GSO does not require official membership to the national organization, but is strongly encouraged for furthering one's professional development. As an honor society, Phi Alpha Theta requires that students have a high GPA in their history classes. Each student must have at least 12 credits in history, with a GPA above a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) at the undergraduate level and above a 3.5 GPA at the graduate level. If a student meets these requirements, then they are accepted into the international history honor society of Phi Alpha Theta.
