Graduate Minor in US/Mexico Border Health The NMSU Department of Health Science

The Department of Health Science offers a Graduate Minor in US/Mexico Border Health.

Part of the coursework is completed on-line distance education via WebCT, while part of the coursework requires brief travel in and around the Southwest United States and Northern Mexico. Students will be responsible for paying their own travel expenses including lodging and meals.

Complete 9 credit hours from the following:

  • MPH 560: American Indian Health 3 cr.
  • MPH 561: Health Communications with Hispanic Clients 3 cr.
  • MPH 562: Hispanic Health Issues 3 cr.
  • MPH 563: Interdisciplinary Seminar 3 cr.
  • MPH 564: Cross-Cultural Aspects of Health 3 cr.
  • MPH 565: International Health Problems 3 cr.
  • MPH 566: International Health Practicum 1-3 cr.
  • MPH 567: Rural Health Issues 3 cr.
  • MPH 568: Coping with Loss and Grief: A Cross-Cultural Perspective 3 cr.
  • MPH 569: U.S.-Mexico Border Health Issues 3 cr.
  • MPH 586: Special Topics 3 cr. (when it carries subtitle US-Mexico Border Health Issues or equivalent)
