Following are policies and procedures for the Department of Health Science which complement and expand upon the New Mexico State University Policy Manual, available on-line at http://www.nmsu.edu/manual/.

 

OFFICE HOURS

  1. Please read NMSU Policy Manual section 5.84 available on-line at: http://www.nmsu.edu/manual/Chapter%205.pdf.  In addition, the Department of Health Science specifies the following.
  2. Full-time main campus faculty will post and maintain office hours a minimum of three (3) days each week that school is in session for a minimum of one (1) hour each of the three days.
  3. Part-time main campus faculty will post and maintain office hours a minimum of one (1) day each week that school is in session for a minimum of one (1) hour.  It may be convenient to both instructor and students to hold office hours immediately before and/or after class.
  4. Individuals teaching on-line courses are not required to hold office hours.  Rather, their communication with the students will be via email and telephone.

 

CANCELATION OF CLASS

  1. Please read NMSU Policy Manual section 6.20 available on-line at: http://www.nmsu.edu/manual/Chapter%206.pdf.  In addition, the Department of Health Science specifies the following.
  2. Every possible effort should be made to avoid the cancellation of classes.

 

LEAVE REQUESTS

  1. If you must be absent from your regular duties, you must submit a Departmental Leave Request (available on-line at http://www.nmsu.edu/~hlthdpt/faculty.html) to the Department of Health Science no less than five (5) working days in advance, and provide a description of how your duties will be covered in your absence.
  2. If you will miss a scheduled class, please make arrangements to have this class covered by another faculty member or instructor.
  3. It is not appropriate to use graduate assistants to cover more than one consecutive class.
  4. Every possible effort should be made to avoid the cancellation of classes.

 

TRAVEL REQUESTS

  1. Please read NMSU Policy Manual section 2.69 available on-line at: http://www.nmsu.edu/manual/Chapter%202.pdf.  In addition, the Department of Health Science specifies the following.
  2. In addition to a Leave Request, for reimbursement of authorized travel expenses, you must submit a Departmental Travel Request (available on-line at http://www.nmsu.edu/~hlthdpt/faculty.html) to the Department of Health Science no less than five (5) working days in advance.
