Application Procedures for Graduate Students

Application to the MPH program is a two-step process. All applicants must apply to and be accepted by the NMSU Graduate School. At the same time, you must apply to the MPH program by completing the appropriate application and submitting it directly to the Department of Public Health Sciences. Please note that there are two different departmental application forms; one for the on-campus MPH program, and one for the on-line MPH program. The on-line MPH program is intended primarily for New Mexico residents, and secondarily for residents of the Southwest United States. Please see below for application deadlines.

Notice to International Applicants

Please be advised that if you are accepted by NMSU to pursue your graduate education, it will be necessary for you to secure an F-1 Student Visa.  As stated on the International Student Services Website,  http://prospective.nmsu.edu/international/index.html, in order to qualify for your Student Visa, you must demonstrate that you have financial support for at least the first year of study.  If you have any questions concerning your visa status, you can contact International Student Services at ias@nmsu.edu. Please be advised that financial support from the Department of Health Science is very limited.  The department is provided a limited number of Graduate Assistantships each year.  A graduate assistantship is a paid position whereby a graduate student supports faculty teaching or research activities. Competition for these funds is very strong.  This means that if you have not received an assistantship award before coming to NMSU, the likelihood of receiving an assistantship upon arrival is rare.  Please plan accordingly.
