Guidelines For Student Funding Support For Travel to Conferences The NMSU Department of Health Science
Rank-Ordered Priority
Highest funding priority will be given to those students presenting a paper, abstract, or poster at a conference. Lower priority will be given to those who are only attending a conference. In general, graduate students will be given a higher priority than undergraduate students. Priority will be given to 2nd-year graduate students and undergraduate seniors; lower priority to entering students. Higher priority will be given to those students who have never attended a professional conference. Priority will be given to those students who register early for the conference, and who can take advantage of the reduced early bird registration fee.
The following conferences will be given higher priority:
- APHA
- SOPHE
- AAHE / AAHPERD
- NMPHA
- TXPHA
- ASHA
- NMEHC
- US/Mexico Border Health Association
All student travel awards are dependent upon the availability of funding from the Department of Health Science, not to exceed $250 per student per year. Awarded funding may be less.
