  • Denton Holmes, a resident of Las Cruces, has established the "Sandra M. and Denton V. Holmes Endowed Scholarship" through a gift of $25,000 to provide an annual award to one student enrolled in the Roadrunner Program in the Department of Nursing. This scholarship honors the memory of Sandy Holmes, Denton’s spouse, who had a 43 year distinguished nursing career with organizations including Mesilla Valley Hospital and Memorial Medical Center. Mr. Holmes intends to devote much of his time toward raising additional funds for the endowment, which is the first to focus strictly on the Roadrunner Program.
  • An individual has established an endowment with the Healthcare Foundation of Southern New Mexico that will provide an annual scholarship to undergraduate students majoring in Community Health in the Department of Health Science.
  • The Robert E. and Evelyn McKee Foundation of El Paso, Texas has granted the Department of Health Science $1,800 to provide three $600 scholarships to undergraduate students during academic year 2005-2006. Eligible students will be Community Health majors. The Tenet Healthcare Foundation, at the recommendation of Providence Memorial Hospital and Sierra Medical Center in El Paso, Texas, has made a grant of $1,000 for scholarship fund support in the Department of Nursing.
  • Dr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Brandon, with the assistance of Mrs. Brandon’s family at Kou Hing Hong Scientific Supplies of Kowloon, Hong Kong, have established the "CHIU Kwok-Yeung Transfer Scholarship for Community Health Students." The endowed fund is created to honor the head of the CHIU family, Mr. CHIU Kwok-Yeung, founder of Kou Hing Hong Scientific Supplies. The eligible recipient shall be a transfer student who has earned an Associate of Applied Science in Public Health degree from the Dona Ana Branch Community College and who is enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Community Health program in the Department of Health Science in the College of Health and Social Services.
