Living Learning Communities
First-year students participating in a Living Learning Community are assigned to the same floor of a residence hall and given opportunities to interact with other students, academic staff and faculty who share common academic or personal interests.
Studies show that students are more successful when their academic experiences are integrated with other parts of their lives. Ongoing dialogue with peers and educators helps students draw personal meaning from their academic experiences. LLCs enable students to develop communication and leadership skills and encourage appreciation for lifelong learning.Living
Learning Communities provide students:
- Friendships and communities developed on common interests.
- Enhanced educational experiences and transition to college through specialized programming.
- Higher levels of interaction with faculty and academic staff outside of the classroom.
- Opportunities for increased academic support through peers and campus resources.
- Intentional connections to academic programs and NMSU.
Please note: It does not cost anything extra to participate in a living/learning community.
