Room Rodeo '09

Room Rodeo ’09 is designed to help current residents living in one of the single student communities retain their current on-campus living arrangement, or request something different, for occupancy in Fall 2009 and Spring 2010. On average, students who live on campus earn higher grade point averages, graduate sooner and enjoy their college experience more than students who live off campus. Unmatched convenience, value and a sense of community are just a few of the characteristics of campus living.
Using your myHousing account (login using your myNMSU username and password), you will be able to select your space and roommates for next fall. Please review the Roommate Selection Information before you begin your room selection. Several special events are planned to provide you with information about your different options before Room Rodeo selections begin.

To Select a Room or Apartment

Login to myHousing and click Room Selection in the left sidebar.

Room or apartment selection will occur by community, one community at a time. See the Community Selection Schedule for details.  Please note: once you make a selection and the assignment is completed, you won’t be able to change your selection. Participation in Room Rodeo invokes the terms of the Single Student Agreement for the 2009-2010 academic year.

There will be three selection opportunities for each community that will occur in the following order:

  • SAME ROOM SELECTION: During Same Room Selection, you may select to stay in your current living space by clicking Continue with Room Selection. The myHousing system will confirm your selection as well as send an email to you noting your room selection. Be sure to print and retain the email confirming your room selection.Only residents living in the scheduled community are eligible for this process. If you want to select a different room, wait for the Same Community Selection or All Open Spaces Selection opportunities.
  • SAME COMMUNITY SELECTION: During Same Community Selection, you may select a different room in the same community in which you are currently living. All available spaces will be displayed by clicking Room Selection in the left sidebar after you log into myHousing.  Available spaces are displayed by floor and in order of room number. Pay close attention to the room type to be sure you select the type of room you desire (including LLC designations). The Floor Plan link at the top of the page will show you where a room is located. To assign yourself or your roommate group to a space, click Select Room or Select Suite. The person entering the selection for a roommate group of three or more will be asked to assign members of their group to specific beds using the dropdown boxes in the Room Booking section. MyHousing will automatically assign roommate groups into apartment bedrooms. Please contact the Housing Office after you have completed your community selection if you wish to modify the bedroom assignments.
  • ALL OPEN SPACES SELECTION: During All Open Spaces Selection, you may select any available space in the scheduled community if you did not participate in the Same Room or Same Community processes for your current living arrangement. As an example, if you live in Garcia Hall and would like to request an apartment in Vista Del Monte, you would make your selection for Vista Del Monte during this process. Login to myHousing and click Room Selection in the left sidebar. The available spaces in the selected community will be displayed.  Available spaces are displayed by floor and in order of room number.
