Visiting Scholor Services

IP serves approximately 60 visiting scholars who teach or conduct research. The J-1Exchange Visitors Program allows NMSU to invite professors, researchers, or other professionals to campus as exchange scholars. IP provides the following services:

1. advises departments wanting to host a scholar,
2. prepares the DS-2019 document to obtain or maintain J-1 status: ( fill out new or extension request form on line then print and send to IP)
3. orients newly arrived scholars,
4. provides general advising and support, and
5. arranges J-1 insurance. (when needed)
