International Development & Cooperation

Specific services provided by Office of international Program (OIP) to faculty/staff are:
  • International Interest Survey - identification of faculty/staff interests and capabilities through the development & maintenance of a faculty/staff database
  • International opportunities - identification and dissemination
  • Proposal preparation, budgeting and institutional capability support (history of NMSU’s involvement in international activities)
  • Contract development and negotiation
  • Contract monitoring, administrative project management and coordination support
International development and cooperation  can take many forms. in the past, it was defined as technical assistance which provided technical expertise in an international environment. Typically technical assistance is assumed to be a one way flow of information with developed countries providing technical expertise to lesser developed countries. International development and cooperation does not exclude technical assistance, but is broader. it assumes that NMSU benefits and not just financially. Any international  development and cooperation project which OIP taken on will only be done so because it fits into the mission of NMSU furthers the internationalization of our campus in one form or another.
Faculty/Staff are encouraged to participate in international activates, programs an/or projects with the expectation that they will provide needed expertise, but will positively exploit the international experience such that something is brought back by faculty/staff  to incorporate into their teaching, research and/or service functions at NMSU.
