Asst. Prof. of Journalism

Mary (Cronin) Lamonica is a native of Massachusetts, but has worked as
a reporter, editor, and producer at newspapers, a magazine, and public
radio in Florida, New Jersey, and Washington State prior to getting her
Ph.D. at Michigan State University. She earned her B.A. and her M.A. at
the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida.

Lamonica came to NMSU in 2005 from Bridgewater State College in
Massachusetts. Prior to that, she taught at Washington State University
where she received tenure.

Prof. Lamonica's research interests include nineteenth and early
twentieth-century media, specifically the Civil War press and
publications issued by women and minorities.
