The rocket arm of Chase Holbrook bombed 472 yards on the night, but the battle turned in the University of New Mexico's favor as the Aggies fell to the Lobos by six points Saturday. Aggie Derek Dubois led the Aggie receiver squad with seven catches and 104 yards.

An early first quarter knee injury took out Lobo quarterback Kole McKarney, but Chris Nelson came off the bench for UNM and threw three touchdowns to move the Lobos ahead and keep them there.

Despite Holbrook's steller performance, the stern Lobo defensive line claimed five turnovers on the Aggies. The fumbles and interceptions proved costly as the Lobos converted most of the turnovers directly into cash at the in-zone.

Playing against a divisional equal like the Lobos, the Aggies, built around Holbrook, showed they can move the ball up the field and score consistently. Yet the frequent turnovers are a signal the team lacks the discipline this early in the season to keep those points. There is a lot of football yet to play and it looks like the Aggies can show what they are capable of doing.
