Lisa with Cleber after passing her blue belt exam

(March 2003).

Lisa taking third at the 2003 Southwest Judo Championships in Albuquerque, NM.

Dr. Lisa M. Frehill has been instrumental in the Alliance's existence from the beginning. In addition to co-authoring the by-laws, organizing tournaments, seminars and the like, she has also been an avid competitor in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo.

Due to missing parts in her knee, Dr. Frehill is debating whether or not to retire from Olympic Judo competition.

Regardless of that decision, she remains active in BJJ and kata (judo) competition.

In addition to her constant training and competing, Lisa finds time to teach Sociology in between workouts.

Another one of Lisa's hobbies that pays well is grant writing.  Being good at grant writing means that the government gives your institution money so you can spend less time teaching and focusing on more important things like choking women half your age and twice your size!
