Amount of Award

Approximately $1,500.00 (Variable due to interest and investment rates.)

Elegibility

  • Full-time undergraduate music majors at NMSU, including incoming freshman and transfers
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Need of financial assistance to obtain education
  • Good moral attitude and character
  • Demonstrated ability and aptitude to purse the chosen field
  • Essay

Application Requirements and Process

  1. Completed application: Forms are available in the front music office, from your studio professor or online
  2. Copy of current transcript: Web generated transcripts are acceptable, 3.0 cumulative GPA or better required
  3. Two letters of recommendation: Letters from two references who have known you in a supervisory capacity for at least one year.
  4. Essay: Describe your career goals and support for the free enterprise system.
  5. There is no audition requirement for this scholarship award.
  6. Completed applications will be screened and voted upon by the music faculty.
  7. After the initial screening, a recommendation will be forwarded to a committee at the financial institution that oversees the trust account. The financial committee makes the final decision on this award. Winning the nomination from the music department does not guarantee that the nominee will receive the final award.

Application Deadline

Completed applications, letters of recommendation, transcripts, and the essay are due to Eva Gonzalez, main music office, on or before Thursday, April 5, 2007 by 5:00 pm. Late or incomplete applications will not receive consideration.
