Carl Fels - Double Reeds
Carl Fels, oboe
Carl Fels received a Masters in Oboe Performance from Yale University, where was also a teaching assistant. Subsequently he studied in Europe with the German oboist Pierre Feit.. Mr. Fels has taught privately and at the university level for over 25 years.
Mr. Fels has toured extensively throughout the United States and the Orient as principal oboist of the Mantovani Orchestra and has played a number os seasons in the Symphony of the Americas in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, prior to coming to NMSU.
Currently Mr. Fels is principle oboist in the Las Cruces Symphony and plays in the El Paso Symphony Orchestra and the El Paso Opera Orchestra. He has been very active as a chamber musician, performing in many of the southwestern states, as well as appearing in chamber music concerts in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. At NMSU he performs in the Faculty Woodwind Quintet and the Cielo Azul Chamber Trio.
