About the Studio
The trumpet studio at NMSU has been designed to offer all trumpet students the opportunity to develop physical and musical skills necessary to enjoy and excel in musical performance. These skills are required for the completion of degree requirements in both music education and performance with trumpet as the primary instrument. Evaluation is based upon effort, attitude, and quality of performance skills.
Goals
- Develop a concept of good sound, musical expression, and technique.
- To learn the evolution and historical importance of the trumpet.
- To develop the physical skills for the performance of "standard" trumpet literature and acquire the discipline to maintain these skills.
- To develop an ability to musically interpret and express qualities of phrasing, lyricism and form.
- To identify the elements necessary to effectively teach trumpet.
- To develop organizational skills necessary to survive in the outside world..
Morning Warm-Up & Daily Routine
Monday thru Friday @ 7:45 am
Tuesday & Thursday @ 9:00 amStudents in the trumpet studio at NMSU are required to meet for Trumpet Warm-Up three times a week. This warm-up session lasts 45 minutes and includes long tones (Tone), lip slurs (Flexibility), tonguing (Articulation), and scales (Technique).
