Bridge to the Doctorate Program

The Bridge to the Doctorate Program hosted alternatively at New Mexico State University (NMSU) and University of New Mexico is an outstanding National Science Foundation-sponsored program whose primary objective is to enhance the preparation of qualified students for graduate study leading to the Ph.D. in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM).In anticipation of funding for a ninth cohort of Bridge to the Doctorate students at New Mexico State University, the New Mexico AMP is offering the following information and application guidelines. The Bridge to the Doctorate IX will bring a cohort of twelve (12) LSAMP students to NMSU where they will be supported through the first two years of graduate study. Selected students will have completed the B.S. degree in a STEM discipline and identified the Ph.D. as their educational goal. Consideration will be given to applicants applying to disciplines that are sparsely represented nationally by minority groups. Examples of such fields include engineering, chemistry, physics, mathematics, geology, or computer science graduate programs. The Bridge to the Doctorate IX is administered by the New Mexico Alliance for Minority Participation (New Mexico AMP) and managed locally by the team at NMSU.
