Benefits of participating in the Bridge to the Doctorate Program
Excellent financial and academic support will be provided to encourage students to focus on their graduate research, including the following:
-Research Assistantship Package of $30,000 per student per year
-Supplemental stipends for tuition costs and fees (up to $4,900 per student per year); education-related books, materials, and supplies (up to $1,000 per student per year); research materials and supplies (up to $1,000 per year); and professional development and travel support (up to $1,000 per student per year).
- Faculty-mentored research activities consistent with students’ interest areas are available to teach research skills and strategies, facilitate development of faculty and student relationships, and offer advisement on coursework and selection of thesis/ dissertation focus and committee as appropriate.
- Seminar “Thriving in Graduate School and Preparing for the Ph.D.” incorporates principles and strategies to increase graduate school success (2 semesters).
- Workshops coordinated by the NMSU Graduate School offer topics such as writing research proposals, effective mentoring, preparing an academic CV, and managing a research lab and lab funds.
