Computer Competency Evaluation for Distance Education Courses

I Rate My Computer Skills as:
1 Beginner; turn computer on and off, use a word processor, maybe email.
2 Intermediate; all of the above plus use programs such as PowerPoint, Excel, and other computer software, can save files in various formats (PDF, RTF, DOC, etc.), can download files, explore the internet, and multitask on the computer. 
3 Advanced; in addition to all of the above, I can complete research online, troubleshoot computer problems, know various ways to complete tasks, can successfully install and upgrade software from the internet without difficulty, I know what hardware I have when asked, e.g., RAM, processor, speed, etc., and I also know how to adjust my pop-up blocker and firewall settings.

It is recommended that you have Microsoft PowerPoint and Word and are familiar with how to use each program, since our faculty at NMSU School of Nursing use these programs to distribute online materials. It is also recommended that you have a high speed connection such as, DSL, broadband, or cable (in order to fully participate in the online courses). You will also be required to use your campus issued email address in order to receive important information from the school once you have been accepted to NMSU and the School of Nursing MIND Program.
