Located in Las Cruces, New Mexico with statewide responsibilities. Personal auto required, reimbursed at 55 cents per mile. Valid driver's license required.

Qualifications: EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS-
Doctorate (in hand by hire date) in Public Health, Health Education, Health Promotion, Community Health, or a closely related field.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS-
* Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
* Ability to work effectively with county and state agencies, the academic community, health professionals, and families.
* Ability to work with culturally and socio-economically diverse audiences
* Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating health education or health promotion programs.
* Understanding of the role of Family and Consumer Sciences in working with families and their environment.
* Basic understanding of the Cooperative Extension Service
* Ability to interpret health assessment data, wellness, and other technical information to the public.
* Willing to work evenings, weekends and travel within state and out-of-state as necessary.
* Must possess high degree of people, problem solving and presentation skills.
* Spanish speaking. (preferred)
* Evidence of ability to prepare and administer grants. (preferred)
Examples of Duties: RESPONSIBILITIES-
* Administratively responsible to the Department Head of Extension Home Economics.
* Provide leadership in developing, implementing, and evaluating statewide health education programs focusing on
community-based issues (including rural and at-risk audiences), emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention.
* Maintain contact,serve as liaison and collaborate with state health providers and agencies, including the New Mexico State Department of Health, state health care providers, and other health focused organizations.
* Develop in-service training sessions in the promotion of individual, family, and community health and wellness to
prepare county Extension professionals to assume leadership for community-based health education and health
promotion efforts.
* Convey information about emerging health issues, current health statistics, and relevant research findings to
Extension personnel and the public.
* Coordinate health education and health promotion program development and delivery with other Extension specialists
and other government and private organizations.
* Use mass media in the delivery of statewide health education programs.
* Develop/adapt educational program materials and teaching aids for use in statewide health education programs.
* Secure external funding for further development and expansion of Extension health education programs.
* Conduct workshops and programs for target clientele groups as appropriate.
* Continue self-improvement through professional study and attending professional meetings and in-service trainings.
* Prepare necessary plans of work, reports, and other responsibilities as directed.
