Extension Associate II with Master’s degree (non tenure tract position) or may be under filled as an Extension Associate I (non tenure) with a Bachelor’s degree POSITION LOCATION; Las Cruces, New Mexico Position Conditions- A valid driver’s license is required Insured personal auto required, reimbursed at 55 cents per mile. Bilingual English, Spanish preferred Position contingent upon funding All offers of employment, oral and written, are contingent on the university’s verification of credentials and other information required by federal law, state law, and NMSU policies/procedures, and may include the completion of a criminal history check. | |||||
| Qualifications: | MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS-
- Extension Associate II- Master’s degree (in hand by hire date) required; preferred in Family and Consumer Sciences, Community Health, Counseling, Social Work, Education, Psychology or related field. - Extension Associate I- Bachelor’s degree( in hand by hire date) preferred in Family and Consumer Sciences, Community Health, Counseling, Social Work, Education, Psychology or related field required with a minimum 2.5 GPA. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- - Skill in short and long-range planning; problem analysis and resolution; report preparation and presentation; public contact and relations. - Technical expertise in programs that service the target populations from the poverty index, at risk or protected class populations preferred. - Ability to direct, evaluate, train and supervise the work of assigned personnel; communicate effectively in written and oral form; develop and maintain effective working relationships; maintain accurate and orderly records; use independent judgment and initiative. Organize and direct several activities; analyze and evaluate information; - Knowledge of University and department policies and procedures preferred; principles and practices of organization and administration; principles of supervision and training. - Willing to work varied hours and travel as necessary. | |||||
| Examples of Duties: | RESPONSIBILITIES-
- Teaches family and couple relationship skills, parenting, life skills and nutrition. - Plans and evaluates instruction. - Prepares reports for individuals and programs. - Assists with the planning, organizing and implementation of appropriate site visits, seminars, workshops and short courses. - Maintains participant records. - Recruit and retain program participants - Work effectively with children, adolescents and adults. | |||||
