| Special Conditions: | Position Conditions-
Located in Shiprock, NM. Must be willing to work odd hours as needed. Must have valid driver's license. Insured personal auto required, reimbursed at 48.5 cents per mile. Position available- Extension 4-H Youth Agent Master's degree(tenure-track position) may be under-filled as Extension Associate I(non-tenure track) with a Bachelor's degree. Bilingual English/Navajo preferred. Knowledge and understanding of Navajo cultural traditions and ways preferred. | |||||
| Qualifications: | EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS-
- Extension 4-H Youth Agent. Master's degree required with at least one degree in Agriculture. - Extension Associate I – Bachelor's degree in Agriculture required, 2.5 GPA required with completion of Master's degree within 6 years of employment. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- - Satisfactory experience in Extension or related field demonstrating ability to work with youth and/or adults preferred. - Ability to relate effectively to people of all ages, income, educational levels and ethnic background and develop informal educational programs to meet their needs. - Ability to communicate orally and in writing and to teach effectively. - Ability to provide leadership role in management of volunteer organization including recruitment, training and support of volunteers. - Successful candidate will have basic computer skills. | |||||
| Examples of Duties: | RESPONSIBILITIES-
- Provide leadership for 4-H Youth Development outreach educational programs for youth and volunteers in Northern Navajo Country. - Develop and coordinate effective educational programs using a variety of delivery methods that support the development of leadership, citizenship and life skills in youth and adult audiences. - Provide support for adult and youth volunteer recruitment, selection, training, evaluation, recognition and support. - Prepare adult volunteers and teens to assume increasing leadership, management, education and information delivery roles in support of the 4-H program. - Maintain a favorable public image and gain acceptance for self, Extension and New Mexico State University among the Navajo citizens | |||||
