POSTION CONDITIONS-
Position is for Bernalillo County, headquarters in Albuquerque, NM. Must live in county where
employed and willing to work odd hours as needed. Personal auto required; reimbursed at 55 cents per
mile. Valid driver’s license required.

Qualifications: EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS-
- Extension Home Economist - Master's degree required. At least one degree must be in Home Economics, Family and Consumer Science, Nutrition, Health Education, Family and Child Development, Extension Education or related field.
- Extension Associate I - Bachelor's degree in Home Economics, Home Economics, Family and Consumer Science, Nutrition, Health Education, Family and Child Development, Extension Education or related field.
- 2.5 GPA required with completion of Master's degree within 6 years of employment.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS-
- Satisfactory experience in Extension or related field demonstrating ability to work with 4-H youth and adults preferred.
- Ability to relate effectively to people of all ages, ethnic backgrounds, income and education levels in order to develop informal educational programs that meet their needs.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing as well as teach effectively required.
- Ability to implement educational experiences for both youth and adults in furtherance of the mission of Extension required.
- Ability to provide the leadership role in management of volunteer organizations including recruitment, training and support of volunteers.
- Successful candidate must have basic computer skills.
Examples of Duties: RESPONSIBILITIES;
- Provide leadership and guidance to Extension educational programs for youth through accepted 4-H Youth Development principles. Programming to include 4-H youth and adult volunteers, other youth groups and their adult and youth leaders as well as the general public throughout Bernalillo County.
- Recruit, train and support volunteer adult and youth leaders.
- Collaborate with other Extension Agents, with State Extension Specialists, the Northern District Director and other administrators as well as outside agencies and organizations in planning and implementing the total Extension program.
- Maintain a favorable public image and gain acceptance for self, Extension and New Mexico State University among county citizens.
- Administratively responsible to the County Program Director and through him/her to the Northern District Director.
- Provide timely reports as required.
