Extension Associate II – Master’s degree (non tenure track) or may be under filled as an Extension Associate I with a Bachelor’s degree (non tenure track) POSITION LOCATION- Located in Alcalde, NM serving the Eight Northern Pueblos. POSITION CONDITIONS- Valid driver’s license required. Personal auto required; reimbursed at 55 cents per mile Position is contingent upon continued funding All offers of employment, oral and written, are contingent on the university’s verification of credentials and other information required by federal law, state law, and NMSU policies/procedures, and may include the completion of a criminal history check | |||||
| Qualifications: | MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS-
• Extension Associate II – Masters degree (in hand by date of hire) required. At least one degree must be in Agricultural field. • Extension Associate I – Bachelor’s degree (in hand by date of hire) in Agricultural field required. 2.5 GPA required. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- • Ability to relate effectively to people of all ages, income, educational levels and ethnic background and develop informal educational programs to meet their needs; communicate orally and in writing and to teach effectively. • Ability to implement educational learning experiences for both youth and adults in furtherance of the mission of Extension required. • Ability to provide leadership role in management of volunteer organizations including recruitment, training and support volunteers. | |||||
| Examples of Duties: | DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES-
• Provide leadership and guidance to Extension education programs in agriculture and youth programs. • Recruit and train volunteers and develop Volunteer Programs. • Provides assistance to Extension programs in increasing involvement of all target Pueblo clientele. • Provide timely reports as required. • Works closely with the Department of Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs and Agencies of the U.S. Department of Agriculture to provide outreach programs to target clientele. • Develop collaborations with other organizations, agencies and citizens in the furtherance of family life programs. • Provide assistance to implement educational programs and learning experiences in agriculture for the Native American population in the Eight Northern Pueblos. • Works jointly with Pueblo and Bureau of Indian Affairs Natural Resource Departments in providing technical and planning assistance with designated farm and ranch projects. • Develop a Pueblo farmer and rancher directory for each of the Pueblos assigned. • Coordinate outreach and educational efforts with RAIPAP, State and Outreach Project agents and specialists, to fulfill the objectives of the Northern New Mexico Outreach Project | |||||
