| Qualifications: | EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS-
- Ph.D. (in hand by hire date) in Animal Science, Dairy Science, Agricultural Engineering or closely related field. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- - One year experience in extension, research, consulting or similar work in the animal production industries and/or environmental science is preferred. - Background in animal nutrition; dairy production management, waste management and bio energy production or water and air quality science is desired. - Demonstrated ability in working with agricultural engineers in respect to nutrient and waste management. - Possess skills to conduct, interpret and publish research. - Demonstrated ability to work with people in the dairy industry, systems approach to problem solving, wide variety of extension, research methods and a willingness to respond to policy, administration and supervision. - Proficiency in oral and written communications; computer and standard industry software packages is required. | |||||
| Examples of Duties: | - Provide leadership and coordinate Extension and Research programs in dairy management by conducting applied research result demonstrations, workshops, seminars and tours.
- Provide technical expertise, training and teaching materials for county extension agents, specialist and producer clientele. - Coordinate with county extension agents, specialists and researchers in planning, conducting and evaluating educational programs and research activities in dairy management. - Develop extension and research programs in methods to deal with air, water and soil quality related to dairy production and other environmental issues related to waste management and nutrient recycling. - Prepare dairy extension publications and publish research results. - Disseminate research findings to NMSU personnel, industry, professional organizations and individuals. - Collaborate with other animal and environmental scientists on campus, cooperative extension personnel and researchers from a variety of federal, state, county, local and national industry organizations. - Organize and participate in industry meetings. - Identify dairy industry research needs. | |||||
