| Qualifications: | NO TYPING TEST REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION.
POSITION LOCATION: AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE CENTER, ARTESIA, NM. POSITION CONTINGENT UPON CONTINUED FUNDING. POSITION WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL FILLED. MUST HAVE A VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE OR MUST BE ABLE TO OBTAIN ONE WITHIN SIX MONTHS. DAYS/HOURS WORKED: MON-FRI, 7AM-3:30PM; FLEXIBLE HOURS. THIS IS A BARGAINING UNIT POSITION WITH AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY & MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent GED certificate, one (1) year of general farm/ranch work experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of principles and practices in one or more agricultural areas such as farm crops and/or farm machinery. | ||||||
| Examples of Duties: | JOB DESCRIPTION:
Operates and trains to operate farm tractors or other mechanized equipment and implements used in plowing, disking, planting, cultivating and harvesting of farm crops; may participate and assist professional staff in research programs in various agricultural areas; may supervise small work crews; may keep simple records of field research projects; operates, maintains and makes field or shop repairs on complex farm/ranch machinery such as self-propelled combines, field cultivators, granular pesticide applicators and other similar types of farm/ranch machinery; cuts ditches for irrigation, building borders, maintaining outlets and gates; maintenance of fences, sheds and other farm buildings and facilities; may assist in the care and feeding of livestock, may clean barns, pens other areas; perform related work as assigned.
