| Special Conditions: | Appointment is a regular full-time, twelve month tenure track position to begin January 2009 at the rank of associate or full professor.
The Department of Health Science within the College of Health and Social Services offers a SABPAC approved Bachelor of Community Health and a Council for Education in Public Health (CEPH) approved Master of Public Health in Community Health as well as a complete online degree program leading to the Master of Public Health in Community Health. Faculty teach across both the undergraduate and graduate programs using traditional and mediated instructional methods. | |||||
| Qualifications: | Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate in an area related to health science and/or public health from an accredited institution of higher education; a minimum of three years administrative experience as well as a record of external funding and publication in peer-reviewed journals of health. Other desirable qualifications include a Master of Public Health degree, CHES certification, and experience with the program approval process of the Council for Education in Public Heath. Other desirable qualifications include experience in developing and teaching in public health programs at the doctoral level

| Examples of Duties: | Serve as academic department head in a growing department of health science to ensure continued SABPAC approval for the Bachelor of Community Health and continued CEPH approval for the Master in Public Health in Community Health Education. The department head will provide vision and leadership for both resident and distance education components of the programs, mentor faculty, and participate in the development of a strategic and long range plans for the department. The successful candidate will work to increase external funding to support collaborative research in health disparities, border health and related areas. | |||||
