Qualifications: Qualifications Required-
• Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) must be in hand by date of hire.
• Hold current NM licensure, or licensure from COMPACT state, or be eligible for licensure in NM as RN.
• Strong background in physical assessment, nursing process, and pharmacology.
• Five years full-time work experience in accredited health care facility as RN.
• Minimum of three years community college or community-based teaching experience.
• Must maintain or be eligible for board certification in area of teaching.
• Ability to work effectively with other faculty members and administration.
• Ability to teach to a diverse student body.
• Experience with or willingness to learn web-based teaching techniques.
• Demonstrated interest in working with the community.
• Experience with student learning assessment and program assessment.
• Understanding of the community college mission and philosophy.
Examples of Duties: • Provide equivalent of 30 credit hours of instruction per academic year (lecture, lab, and clinical).
• Teach nursing courses in two or more of the following disciplines- Women’s Health, Pediatrics, Medical, Surgical and/or Fundamental Nursing.
• Teach related lab and clinical components.
• Develop teaching materials, such as PowerPoint lectures and labs, as needed.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of courses.
• Assist in review of program needs.
• Advise and counsel students.
• Teach weekends, evenings, off-campus, and web-based classes as assigned.
• Assist in articulation efforts with NMSU-A and other NM campuses.
• Participate in professional development activities.
• Participate in institutional and program level assessment.
• Participate in committee assignments for the benefit of NMSU-A.
• Participate in community service activities.
• Coordinate with NMSU-A departments and with appropriate external agencies and organizations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Successful candidates must have a philosophy which supports the goal of success for all students through hands-on learning experiences and strong facility involvement. Finalists will be asked to document teaching effectiveness with relevant material and to present a teaching demonstration.
