| Qualifications: | • Master’s degree in a Physical Sciences discipline
• Required degree must be in hand by date of hire. • Minimum of two years full-time teaching experience (or four years part-time) in a post-secondary institution within the past eight years. • Experience working effectively with other faculty members and administration. • Ability to teach to a diverse student body. • Experience with or willingness to learn web-based teaching techniques. • Demonstrated interest in working with the community. • Experience with student learning assessment and program assessment. • Understanding of the community college mission and philosophy. Preferred • Doctorate | |||||
| Examples of Duties: | • Provide equivalent of 30 credit hours of instruction per academic year assigned from at least two areas of the physical sciences (for example- astronomy, geology, environmental science, physics)
• Develop, revise, and update curriculum in collaboration with department, college, and university faculty according to established curriculum procedures. • Conduct ongoing assessment of course quality and student learning. • Assist in review of program needs. • Teach weekends, evenings, off-campus, and web-based classes as assigned. • Assist in articulation efforts with NMSU-A and other NM campuses. • Participate in professional development activities. • Participate in institutional and program level assessment. • Participate in committee assignments for the benefit of NMSU-A. • Participate in community service activities. Successful candidates must have a philosophy which supports the goal of success for all students through hands-on learning experiences and strong facility involvement. Finalists will be asked to document teaching effectiveness with relevant material and to present a teaching demonstration. • Coordinate with NMSU-A departments and with appropriate external agencies and organizations. • Perform other duties as assigned. | |||||
