| Qualifications: | - MSN or willingness to begin MSN program within one year of hire (must complete MSN program within 6 years of employment); BSN minimum education required upon employment
- Hold current NM licensure, licensure from COMPACT state or be eligible for licensure in New Mexico as a Registered Professional Nurse (RN). - Background in Medical/Surgical nursing required with a strong background in physical assessment, nursing process, and pharmacology preferred. - One year teaching experience required, preferably at community college or higher education institution. - Two years full-time work experience in accredited health care facility required. - Must maintain or be eligible for board certification in area of teaching. IMPORTANT CHARACTERISTICS- Ability to work effectively with other faculty members and the administration in maintaining an effective instructional program. Ability to teach to a diverse student body. | |||||
| Examples of Duties: | 1. Teach both freshman and sophomore nursing courses to include pharmacology, as well as basic and advanced medical/surgical concepts.
2. Teach related clinical components 3. Assist in review of program needs 4. Advise and counsel students 5. Assist in articulation with NMSU and other NM campuses 6. Provide BCLS training and recertification for other faculty 7. Conduct ongoing assessment 8. Participate in institutional and program level assessment 9. Teach weekend, evenings, off-campus, and online as assigned 10. Participate in professional development activities. 11. Participate in committee assignments 12. Participate in community service activities 13. Other duties as assigned. Successful candidates must have a philosophy which supports the goal of success for all students through hands-on learning experiences and strong faculty involvement. Finalists will be asked to document their teaching effectiveness with relevant material and to present a teaching demonstration. Finalists must have an understanding of the community college function and philosophy, and interests in working with students of all ethnic groups, and a demonstrated interest of working with the community. Willingness to live in NMSU-A service area preferred. | |||||
