Qualifications: General Qualifications- Include a MSW from a CSWE-accredited program, two years post-MSW practice experience, be licensed or license eligible in New Mexico and have earned a doctorate in social work or a related field. Preferred qualifications include 1) evidence of excellence in teaching, 2) experience using web-based instruction and other distance education delivery mechanisms, 3) demonstrated experience in working with culturally diverse populations, 4) interest in interdisciplinary research, and 5) evidence of an established record of publications, research, and extramural funding commensurate with appointment at the rank of associate/full professor.
Associate Professor Rank- Eligibility for this rank includes- (1) a well-developed focused area of study that is supported by peer-reviewed publications, working papers, funding support, and, if appropriate, books or chapters in books, (2) exemplary student evaluations in the classroom as well as a mentor, (3) a developed involvement in governance at the university level, community level (if appropriate) and within professional societies, (4) the potential for productivity and growth in scholarship, teaching and leadership.
Full Professor Rank- Eligibility for this rank includes- (1) a fully developed portfolio of scholarship that includes substantial publications in a focused area of study, (2) a track record of funding for the work, (3) evidence of recognition by peers as a national or international leader in their focused area, (4) evidence of exemplary teaching, mentoring and service on these and/or dissertation committees, and (5) a history of leadership positions in the field of social work on a national and/or international level.
Examples of Duties: The successful applicant should be prepared to 1) teach courses across the advanced generalist curriculum, 2) advise graduate students, 3) prepare and secure funded external support for one’s research, 4) publish in refereed journals, 4) be involved in community outreach projects in the greater Albuquerque area and other north-central New Mexican communities, as well as the U.S.-Mexican Border region, 5) mentor junior faculty in areas of their expertise, 6) serve on school, college, and university committees, 7) provide administrative leadership for the school’s MSW program in Albuquerque, and 8) be involved in leadership roles within professional organizations in one’s field of expertise

Nine month faculty- not eligible for annual and sick leave.
Special Conditions: This is a 9 month; tenure/tenure track position.
