| Qualifications: | Required-
Masters Degree in Nursing.(MSN) Degree must be in hand by date of hire. Current New Mexico licensure, or a compact state license, or eligibility to obtain a New Mexico license to practice as a registered nurse. Three (3) years related experience in providing nursing education that reflects recent developments in Nursing. Preferred- Practice in a clinical setting within the past four (4) years. Knowledge of the accreditation process and standards established by the National League for Nursing and the New Mexico Board of Nursing. Knowledge of innovative, creative teaching and learning methodologies. Experience with online course development and delivery, evolving instructional technologies and media. Experience in developing curriculum, measuring student learning outcomes, evaluating course efficacy, and assessing and improving student learning. Endorsement of the teaching philosophy of NMSU-A, which supports a goal of success for all students through active learning experiences and strong faculty involvement. Demonstrated experience teaching and relating to individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds. Proven leadership in an academic and/or nursing environment. Excellent leadership, communication, organization, teamwork, and interpersonal skills working with students, colleagues, staff, advisory committees, and other external entities. Community college/post-secondary teaching experience. Willingness to live in NMSU-Alamogordo geographical service area. | |||||
| Examples of Duties: | Provide leadership and instruction in the Associate Degree in Nursing Program.
Prepare program budget and oversee fiscal administration. Recruit, assign, supervise and evaluate program faculty. Teach the equivalent of eight (8) credit hours over fall, spring, and summer terms. Teaching assignments may include day, evenings, weekends, and/or multiple locations. Develop, revise and update curriculum in collaboration with the department faculty. May develop and teach online courses. Instruct, support, advise and provide timely feedback to students in accordance with NMSU-A policy and procedures. Review the curriculum and instructional processes in clinical and simulation settings. Develop and implement an orientation program for new faculty. Serve as a role model of effective teaching. Take the lead in clinical worksite development. Serve as a role model of effective teaching. Participate in and serve on department, division, and college committees, program advisory councils, task forces and working groups. Maintain professional and academic competence and participate in professional development activities. Maintain open office hours for student, staff, and faculty access. Function as advisor to students. Perform other related duties as assigned. | |||||
