Qualifications: Qualifications- Candidates must have an earned doctoral degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or closely related field. The applicant must show a sustained record of scholarly activities and research as evidenced by archival publications, graduate supervision, and nationally competitive funding. Qualifications include a strong record of scholarly and professional accomplishments that merit appointment as a tenured full professor, a reputation for creating a positive people climate, a record of management in a complex organization, a demonstrated commitment to diversity and student success, and excellent interpersonal skills.
Examples of Duties: Examples of Duties- Academic, administrative, budgetary and personnel decisions, sustaining the ABET accreditation, recruiting and retention of students and faculty, providing innovative and energetic leadership in teaching, research, extension, outreach, development activities and securing research sponsorship. The successful candidate must articulate and communicate a clear vision to lead the MAE Department towards academic excellence and must have excellent communication skills to proactively interface with a broad constituency in academia, government, industry and the community; a demonstrated record of organizational skills; knowledge of state, federal and private sector fund-raising; and the ability to develop R&D relationships.

Special Conditions: Special Conditions- We seek a nationally and internationally recognized educator and researcher. The candidate will become the holder of the Bob and Sherry Myers Chair in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. The department has strong research programs in Aeroelasticity and Fluid Structure Interaction, Dynamics and Vibrations, Fluid Mechanics, Robotics and Controls, Solid Mechanics and Materials, and, Thermal Science and Energy. The MAE Department offers an ABET Inc. accredited B.S. degree program, as well as M.S. and Ph.D. programs in both mechanical and aerospace engineering. The department currently has 1 endowed professorship.
