| Qualifications: | CMI is looking for a working professional with a passion for storytelling and teaching. Candidates must have at least three years experience in creative media (film, television, animation). Candidates must have a portfolio of produced screenplays, films, documentaries, podcasts, animation, and/or other programs for television or screen. Candidates must have knowledge of new media production and delivery system techniques. CMI strongly prefers candidates with demonstrated successful teaching in higher education.
Required Education- Terminal degree, MFA or Ph.D., in Film, English, Creative Writing, Art or related area. Degree must be in hand at the time of hire. | |||||
| Examples of Duties: | The successful candidate will support current student needs by teaching in one or more of the areas of History of Cinema; Introduction to the Creative Media Industry; Narrative- Principles of Story Across the Media; in addition, the candidate should be able to teach in any of, or a variety of, the following- directing, screenwriting, producing, business law, editing, sound design, cinematography, production management, storyboarding, and animation.
Tenure track faculty actively engaged in scholarship and creative activity teach three 3-credit courses per semester. In addition to teaching duties, the faculty member must maintain an active research portfolio of traditional scholarship and/or creative activity; serve on department, college and/or university committees; participate in departmental recruitment, retention, and outreach activities; advise students; and other duties deemed appropriate. | |||||
