| Qualifications: | MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ph.D. (in hand by hire date) in Animal Science/Reproductive Physiology or closely related field. • Demonstrated desire and ability to propose and conduct independent and team-based research; publish results in scientific journals. • Experience and success in scientific publication and demonstrated grantsmanship. • Commitment to excellence in teaching and evidence of collegiality. • Strong oral and written English communication skills are essential. | |||||
| Examples of Duties: | DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
• Develop a competitively funded and collaborative research program that contributes understanding to basic and applied aspects of reproduction of ruminant animals important to New Mexico agriculture and the semi-arid regions of the world. • Teach an undergraduate course in reproductive physiology and related courses within the department’s Physiology Graduate Program. • Undergraduate advising, mentoring of graduate students; participate in research groups of agricultural experiment stations and scientific associations. Research resources include base funding through the New Mexico Agricultural Experiment Station, laboratories in the Department of Animal & Range Sciences and coordinated access to animals and facilities on the Campus Teaching and Research Center, the Chihuahuan Desert Rangeland Research Center and the Corona Range and Livestock Research Center. Opportunities exist for development of multi-disciplinary relationships within the department, across campus and cooperative external university programs. Examples of these programs include Ruminant Nutrition, Range Sciences, Wildlife Sciences, Molecular Biology, Institute of Applied Biosciences, Natural Resources and Sustainability Research Cluster, SCORE and RISE programs of NIH, Howard Hughes Medical Institute Program, Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center Program, etc. The department is one of two departments in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Science that offer both a M.S. and Ph.D. degree | |||||
