Full-time, 9 month, non-tenure track

Qualifications: Qualifications Required:
• Master’s degree in Biology or a related field, or a Master’s degree in Education with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology.
• Required degree must be in hand by date of hire.
• Minimum three years experience teaching high school or college lower-division general biology lecture/lab courses.
• Ability to teach lower-level, introductory, lecture and laboratory courses in biology.
• Ability to work effectively with other faculty members and administration.
• Ability to teach to a diverse student body.
• Demonstrated interest in working with the community.
• Experience with student learning assessment and program assessment.
• Understanding of the community college mission and philosophy.

Qualifications Preferred:
• Background in human biology, anatomy & physiology, and microbiology.
• Community college teaching experience.
• Willingness to live in the NMSU-A service area.
Examples of Duties: • Coordinate all biology labs and supervise lab assistants.
• Provide 24 credit hours of instruction per year assigned from the following laboratories/lectures- Human Biology; Natural History of Life; Cellular and Organismal Biology; Introductory Microbiology; Human Anatomy and Physiology; Zoology. The remaining 6 required credit hours of workload will be earned as time reassigned to coordination of biology labs.
• Develop materials for labs as needed.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of courses.
• Teach weekends, evenings, and off-campus, as assigned.
• Participate in professional development activities.
• Participate in various committee assignments for the benefit of NMSU-A.
• Coordinate with NMSU departments and with appropriate external agencies and organizations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Finalists will be asked to document their teaching effectiveness with student evaluations or similar material and will be asked to present a teaching demonstration.
