| Qualifications: | Earned doctoral degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field. Applicant must have had a sustained record of scholarly activities and research as evidenced by archival publications, graduate supervision, and nationally competitive funding. Registration as a professional engineer (ability to obtain reciprocity if not held in New Mexico). Strong record of scholarly and professional accomplishments that merit appointment as a tenured full professor. Record of innovative leadership and successful management in an organization. A demonstrated commitment to diversity and student success as well as excellent interpersonal skills. Record of leadership and positive outcomes in curriculum development and assessment, outreach and extension.

| Examples of Duties: | Responsibilities include:
Academic, administrative, budgetary and personnel decisions, sustaining the ABET accreditation, recruiting and retention of students and faculty, providing innovative and energetic leadership in instructional, research, outreach, and development activities. The successful candidate must articulate and communicate a clear vision to lead the Civil Engineering Department towards academic excellence; and must have excellent communication skills to pro-actively interface with a broad constituency in academia, government, industry and the community; a demonstrated record of organizational skills; knowledge of state, federal and private sector fund-raising; and the ability to develop R&D relationships. The department has nationally recognized strengths in structures and materials, environmental, geotechnical, and water resources engineering. It leads the nation in bridge inspection programs. The Civil Engineering department offers an ABET Inc. –accredited B.S. degree program, as well as M.S. and Ph.D. programs. The department currently has 15 FTE faculty positions, 273 undergraduate students, 43 master students and 22 doctorate candidates. | |||||
