Special Conditions: The College of Arts and Sciences and The College of Education at New Mexico State University are seeking candidates for a joint tenure-track appointment in mathematics education, expected to be at the assistant professor level. This position requires research in mathematics education, teaching courses in the Department of Mathematical Sciences as well as the Department of Curriculum & Instruction, and appropriate university service. The successful candidate will have an opportunity, not only to teach preservice teachers in both Departments, but also to teach content courses in mathematics and to work with students earning a Ph.D. in mathematics with a concentration in mathematics education.

Qualifications: Required Qualifications- (1) Earned doctorate in either curriculum & instruction with a concentration in mathematics education (Master’s in mathematics preferred); or an earned doctorate in mathematics with an area of focus in math education; or a doctorate in math education; (2) The ability to conduct and publish research in mathematics education.

Preferred Qualifications- Successful undergraduate or K-12 teaching experience, experience with diverse ethno-linguistic populations, familiarity with educational technologies, and a disposition to work partly in Spanish will all be viewed positively.
