| Examples of Duties: | Candidates with prior university administrative experience are desirable.
Responsibilities include- academic program oversight; leadership, vision, and long-term planning; maintaining program accreditation; and performing other administrative duties as expected of a Program Director appointment. Ideal candidates will have a record of teaching and scholarship commensurate with appointment at the associate level. In addition to performing administrative duties, the faculty member will provide undergraduate and graduate clinical and classroom education in an innovative Communication Disorders program serving a diverse student and clinical population. All areas of expertise will be considered. An ongoing, active research agenda is expected. New Mexico State University (NMSU) is a land grant, multicultural, Carnegie Doctoral/Research University Extensive institution located in Las Cruces, a southern New Mexico metropolitan area of more than 130,000 people. NMSU enrolls approximately 16,000 on its main campus. The Special Education/Communication Disorders Department is one of five departments in the College of Education. Las Cruces is 45 miles north of the border cities of El Paso, Texas and Juarez, Mexico. The elevation of the University is approximately 4,000 feet; nearby mountain systems range up to 9,000 feet. The climate is mild, and the annual mean precipitation is less than 8 inches. Areas for outdoor recreation - skiing, camping, hiking, fishing, and boating - are within a one-two hour drive. | |||||
