Qualifications: Candidates must have an earned doctoral degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or closely related field and an established record of research and service consistent with a tenured position. Candidates should demonstrate a vision and leadership skills necessary for advancing departmental national rankings in undergraduate and graduate programs, a strong commitment to excellence in research, and effective communication and interpersonal skills. Other important criteria are a commitment to excellence in teaching and demonstrated management of a successful organization.
Examples of Duties: Academic, administrative, budgetary and personnel decisions; sustaining program accreditation; recruiting and retention of students and faculty; leadership in research development activities; cultivation of relationships with government, industry, alumni and the community; federal and private sector fund-raising.

New Mexico State University is located in Las Cruces, New Mexico, a city rated by Forbes as one of the Best Small Places for Business and Careers. The University is a Carnegie Research University/High Activity with approximately 17,000 students on the Las Cruces campus. The Klipsch School of Electrical and Computer Engineering is the largest department in the College of Engineering with an enrollment of 335 undergraduate, 115 M.S. and 33 Ph.D. students. The School has 20 tenured and tenure track faculty in the areas of Circuits and VLSI-Electronics, Communications and Telemetry, Computer Engineering, Power Systems, Electromagnetics, Electro-Optics, Networks, Signal Processing and Systems Engineering. Nationally recognized programs and laboratories include the Advanced Speech and Audio Processing Laboratory, the Center for Space Telemetry and Telecommunications, the computer Performance and Architecture Research Lab, the Electric Utility Management Program, the Electro-Optics Research Laboratory, the Electromagnetics and Microwave Laboratory, the R. L. Golden Particle Astrophysics Laboratory and the VLSI Laboratory.
