POSITION LOCATION-
Department of Agricultural Economics & Agricultural Business

New Mexico State University, based in Las Cruces, is the state’s land-grant institution, with more than 22, 000 students on its five campuses. The AEAB Department is part of the College of Agriculture and Home Economics, which houses 150 faculty members and 1,800 students. The Department offers a Bachelor of Science degree with several areas of concentration and four graduate degrees- A Master of Science in Agricultural Economics, a Master of Agriculture with an emphasis in Agribusiness, a MBA with specialization in Agricultural Business (in conjunction with the College of Business) and a Doctorate in Economic Development (starting fall 2008) in cooperation with the Department of Economics and International Business. The AEAB Department is home to 15 tenure-track faculty members and about 220 undergraduate and 40 graduate students.
Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS-
- Ph.D. (in hand by hire date) in Economics/Business, Business Administration or a closely related area with strong
emphasis on Food and Agribusiness Marketing and/or Management.
- Capacity to apply economic and business analysis tools, such as econometrics or math
programming.
- Demonstrated excellence in professional communications.
- Ability and desire to work as part of a team in a diverse multicultural environment.
Examples of Duties: EXAMPLES OF DUTIES-
- Teach up to two undergraduate level courses in food and agribusiness marketing and/or management topics and
at least one graduate level course related to his/her field of expertise, for a teaching load of three courses per
year. Teaching may include distance education classes.
- Participation in student recruitment and retention activities and other departmental teaching and research
program development efforts.
- Obtain external grant funding and conduct research on issues that are critical to the New Mexico food and
agribusinesses sector.
- Disseminate research results through refereed journal article publications and other suitable venues.
