| Qualifications: | Qualifications Required-
Masters Degree or higher in field that is tenurable within Division Minimum of three years full-time post-secondary teaching experience Administrative experience in post-secondary academic unit, such as academic program, department, or division Experience with or willingness to learn web-based teaching techniques. Demonstrated interest in working with the community. Experience with student learning assessment and program assessment. Qualifications Preferred Terminal degree Community college teaching experience Community college administrative experience Experience managing budgets Understanding of the community college mission and philosophy Understanding of relationships between developmental, transfer, career technical, and general education Ability to work effectively with other faculty members and administration. Ability to teach to a diverse student body. | |||||
| Examples of Duties: | Responsibilities-
Serve as the leader and administrator of the division and its programs Teach three credits a year in area of expertise. Supervise and provide mentorship for assigned regular faculty and staff Make recommendations regarding promotion, tenure, and retention. Foster instructional and academic excellence Represent the division and/or college to appropriate community and professional organizations. Advise the Vice President for Academic Affairs on academic matters Coordinate with all appropriate areas within the college to insure high quality instruction, programming and advising. Insure compliance with college, university, and state policies and procedures Develop budget requests, allocate resources, and control expenditures of assigned budgets. Collaborate with appropriate internal and external entities to seek external funding sources. Develop and facilitate new and/or enhanced programming proposals. Facilitate the evaluation of program effectiveness. Monitor the assessment of programs through the program review process and specialized accreditations Facilitate and monitor development of class schedules. Participate in professional development activities. Participate in committee assignments. Participate in community service activities. Coordinate with NMSU-A departments and with appropriate external agencies and organizations. Implement and monitor academic policies and procedures. Implement and monitor appropriate institutional and statewide policies and procedures. Facilitate the maintenance of required records and the preparation of division reports. Perform other related duties as assigned. Successful candidates must have a philosophy which supports the goal of success for all students through hands-on learning experiences and strong faculty involvement. Finalists will be asked to document teaching effectiveness with relevant material and to present a teaching demonstration. | |||||

| Special Conditions: | Title- Division Head & Faculty member (Associate or Assistant Professor) (12-month position) in Division of Math, Engineering, Science and Health (teaching expertise must be in an area of math, engineering, science or health sciences).
Effective Date- August 1, 2013 All offers of employment, oral and written, are contingent on the universitys verification of credentials and other information required by federal law, state law, and NMSU policies/procedures, and may include the completion of a criminal history check. Position will revert to a 9-month faculty position in the event that Division Head duties are relinquished. | |||||
