Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a computer related field, preferably in business computer systems. Minimum three years of related experience required. Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form required and knowledge of database design, data base access methods, and reporting tools. Knowledge preferred in some of the following- SQL, JAVA, ORACLE, Windows XP, UNIX, Cognos ReportNet, TOAD, Web Services and Portal Systems. Experience with Banner, ODS, SQL, ORACLE, UNIX and Appworx preferred. Ability to write programs to extract and format data for user needs. The ability to work with PC based software tools. The ability to configure PC software tools to interact with ODBC database listeners. Short and long-range planning. Problem Analysis and resolution, prepare presentations., public contact, modify and debug large programs; develop and maintain working relationships; maintain working relationships; maintain accurate and orderly records; use independent judgment and initiative.
Examples of Duties: Creates, modifies, debugs and supports institutional computer reporting tools. Analyzes data layouts in databases, flat files and other data sources and creates programs, using reporting tools to extract data and present it to the user community. Meets with clients to discuss needs with respect to hardware, network and software. Consult with clients to gather information about program needs, objectives, functions and features. Instructs and trains in methods and procedures on the use of reporting tools. Responds to complaints and grievances. Other duties as assigned.
